Daisy: Prophet of the Apocalypse
Daisy: Prophet of the Apocalypse is an experimental mockumentary that investigates social and sexual conformity, by proposing the need for a New Queer World. The film follows a character named Daisy (played by Patel), who emigrates from Texas to Ireland after being rejected by her family. Once arrived, Daisy encounters a goddess on a mountaintop who implores her to free the world from the evils of heteronormativity before the impending apocalypse. Dressed in a cowboy hat and a white dress and carrying a pink megaphone, Daisy preaches across various locations in Dublin, reappropriating religious methods of indoctrination and spreading the goddess’s message to accumulate a group of followers. Inspired by modern day preachers, the Book of Revelations, and queer protest art, the film envisions a world where the confines of societal structures are abolished and difference is revered.
